Awards & Accolades

The Lucky Wishbone of Anchorage has received many awards and accolades since its founding in November of 1955. It became the first restaurant in Alaska to become smoke-free in honor of the cofounder, Harold George Brown’s mother.

The restaurant celebrates its 70th anniversary in November 2025, and here a summary of the recognition it has received:

  • In 2002, the Lucky Wishbone Restaurant was selected as the Alaska Business of the Year by the Alaska Small Business Association.
  • In February 2005, the Municipality of Anchorage recognized the Lucky Wishbone cofounders, Harold George and Peggy Brown, with a resolution honoring their accomplishments.
  • In June of 2025, the Lucky Wishbone Restaurant was awarded as an American Classic Restaurant by the James Beard Foundation.
